The third annual HealthX Startup Day wasn’t just another date on the calendar, it marked an important moment for HealthTech in Singapore. Synapxe brought together innovators, healthcare professionals, and industry leaders to push the boundaries of digital health. More than just an event, it captured the spirit of the HealthX movement, a nationwide drive uniting public healthcare partners to innovate, build new capabilities, and transform care in Singapore.

HealthX

The HealthX movement unites clinicians, startups, and healthcare professionals to collaborate, co-create, and reimagine what’s possible for patients and healthcare providers alike. With comprehensive support under various initiatives, HealthX helps healthcare institutions and industry partners fast-track their digital transformation and turn smart health innovation into everyday reality.

Launching new standards

A big step forward for healthcare in Singapore. A close collaboration with the Centre of Regulatory Excellence – Standards Development Organisation (CoRE-SDO) and Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG) via the Singapore Standards Council (SSC), two new Singapore Standards were launched:

  • SS719:2025: This guideline on Data Standards (Terminology) sets out how clinical information should be organised and shared, making it easier for different healthcare systems to communicate seamlessly. For example, Patient details, lab results, medications, and diagnoses all speak the same digital language. With this consistency, new apps and platforms can plug right into hospital systems, making data flow effortlessly.
  • SS720:2025: This new standard is all about integrating data for remote clinical monitoring, paving the way for smarter, more connected care. takes remote care to the next level. It lets health data, such as blood pressure, blood sugar, or weight, from home devices travel securely and consistently to doctors and hospitals. The result? Patients get better care, even when they’re far from the clinic.

Elementum’s innovation hub, Terrarium, hosted HealthX Startup Day and drew nearly 200 participants from across the healthcare ecosystem, including clinicians, regulators, startup founders, and public healthcare professionals.

The morning kicked off with insightful presentations from Mr. Henry Kang, Director of Innovation Capabilities Enablement (ICE) at Synapxe, and Dr. Yong Chern Chet, Chair of the Biomedical and Health Standards Committee (BHSC). Both speakers emphasised the crucial role of new standards in advancing healthcare data interoperability and remote clinical monitoring. They highlighted how these standards will transform chronic disease management and foster greater public trust in the healthcare system.

“Innovation is a continuous journey powered by people” Mr. Henry Kang, Director of Innovation Capabilities Enablement (ICE)

Through his sharing, Mr Kang encouraged the audience to connect, co-create, and discover opportunities to improve healthcare through innovation. His call-to-action was echoed by Dr Yong:

"Let us work and raise the bar for patient safety and public trust in the network” Dr Yong Chern Chet, Chair of Biomedical and Health Standards Committee

Overcoming challenges to drive tech adoption

Through continual innovation, Singapore’s healthcare landscape is digitalising, providing patients and doctors with more efficient, seamless care delivery. Ms Wong Jing Jing, Senior Lead Informatics Specialist, Clinical Informatics at Synapxe, shared in her overview on Data Standards (Terminology) that connected, and more seamless systems and consistent data formats can improve the care delivery journey, particularly in the private sector. The new Singapore Standards aim to address this challenge.

Startups joining the HealthX Innovation Sandbox (HX-IS) 2.0 will benefit from direct access to the latest Singapore Standards. Within this real-world testing environment, tech innovators can demonstrate, test, and validate their solutions for public healthcare. By leveraging these standards early, startups boost system interoperability and data quality, making future integration with healthcare providers smoother and more cost-effective. This proactive approach helps reduce development hurdles and accelerates the path to market-ready products.

Building a future ready healthcare ecosystem

In September 2025, Synaxpe launched the Open Call for Ideas, inviting startups from both local and international communities to pitch innovative solutions to address pressing challenges in public healthcare. The initiative focused on three key themes identified by healthcare providers, aiming to harness fresh perspectives and advanced technologies.

Out of numerous entries, nine submissions earned the opportunity to present their ideas to a panel of public healthcare professionals, at the HealthX Startup Day. Each pitch demonstrated the potential of technology in healthcare, from AI-powered scheduling platforms to digital triage assistants and natural language interfaces.

More than a showcase of ideas

HealthX Startup Day 2025 wasn’t just about unveiling cutting-edge healthcare solutions, it was a powerful demonstration of the HealthX movement’s momentum. The event united Singapore’s HealthTech community, all working toward a more connected and future-ready healthcare system. From launching national standards to spotlighting bold ideas from emerging startups, HealthX Startup Day reinforced how public healthcare is constantly championing for innovation and collaboration in transforming care delivery.
