Synapxe Celebrates SG60 by Asking Singaporeans to Reimagine Ageing with Technology

Synapxe, the national HealthTech agency, is celebrating SG60 with a campaign and event activation that invites Singaporeans to reimagine ageing by reframing the question ‘what do you want to be when you grow up?’ to ‘how do you want to grow old?’.

To celebrate the strength of Singapore’s healthcare ecosystem and the HealthTech innovations that empower healthier lives, Synapxe’s initiative encourages Singaporeans to envision a positive ageing journey supported by technology. 

Commenting on the campaign, Foo Hee Jug, Chief Executive at Synapxe said: “Synapxe sits at the nexus of health and tech, connecting Singapore’s health ecosystem through tech to serve the public healthcare sector and citizens. As the HealthTech ecosystem enabler, we see the power of digital health innovation. From predictive analytics to operational efficiency, from personalised healthcare to care delivery in hospitals, tech can support lifelong wellness in the community, enabling us to harness the opportunities that longer and healthier lives bring. 

Often though, we focus on the challenges of today and forget to ask: ‘How do we want to grow old?’ Through this activation, we playfully nudge our public to  reimagine what ageing can look like in the next 60 years, powered by tech.”

 

Active ageing as inspired by our children

Central to the campaign is a one and a half-min long video where children of the Synapxe family were asked how they imagine growing old to look like. Inspired by their spontaneous responses, we built an interactive experience to enable people of all ages to physically engage with the question of how they too want to grow old. Participants are then encouraged to visit Synapxe’s website, where 10 key tech projects that contribute to a healthier Singapore are highlighted. 

 

Reimagining the Elderly Crossing road sign

The public can give their own take on the reimagination of ageing by “redesigning” an iconic road sign that has, for years, represented the elderly and ageing. Housed as part of the Tanjong Pagar SG60 Celebration, the interactive experience will take place at the Discover Tanjong Pagar Community Green from 4 to 6 August 2025, 9:00am to 6:00pm.At the event, The public can take control of the life-size road sign using kinetic sensors, and recreate the familiar road sign with fun poses; after which they can then download the gif for use in their own social media. This interactive installation symbolises how one can live life with strength and purposes, regardless of age. 

By sparking conversations and challenging long-standing perceptions of ageing, Synapxe’s campaign seeks to contribute to a future where ageing is celebrated. It also creates awareness of how Synapxe is harnessing technology to create a healthier and more vibrant society. Through innovation and a shift in mindset, ageing can be a time of continued growth, joy, and fulfilment for all.
