Establishing New Collaborations to Drive Impactful Healthcare Outcomes

At the event, Synapxe signed a collaboration agreement with OpenAI, the research and deployment company of ChatGPT. Together, Synapxe will explore how OpenAI’s multi- agentic framework can make every day healthcare tasks easier and more efficient for people in Singapore. Leveraging OpenAI’s Agents SDK, a prototype has been developed to facilitate transactional services such as booking appointments and answering general healthcare questions. All chat interactions through this prototype remain private and are excluded from model training by default. If successful, the prototype could be extended to other use cases and considered for potential scaling within Singapore’s healthcare ecosystem.

An MOU was signed to form an alliance between Synapxe and AIDX TECH to assist with identifying AI risks in healthcare and ensuring AI safety and reliability. Synapxe will leverage AIDX’s platform for the testing of AI models to drive responsible and compliant AI, while focusing on AI safety through joint innovation labs, best practice frameworks, and specialised training programs. The collaboration will assist healthcare sectors to adopt safer and compliant AI aligned with both local and global frameworks and guidelines, ensuring patient safety and enhancing public trust in the use of AI in healthcare.

To strengthen the capabilities of national cloud-based analytics platform, Health Empowerment through Advanced Learning & Intelligent eXchange (HEALIX), Synapxe signed an MOU with Databricks, a leading global data, analytics, and AI company. Currently leveraging the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform to support analytical insights and enhanced security and data democratisation, this partnership will further promote the adoption of AI and skills transformations within public healthcare institutions in Singapore. Key initiatives include fostering experimentation and adoption of AI use cases through a Data and AI Factory, co-developing predictive care use cases and integrating Databricks' AI capabilities into HEALIX’s platform. Additionally, Databricks will support the training and certification of public healthcare professionals through the HEALIX Data and AI Academy over the next three years, enabling them to obtain Databricks certifications. This initiative is part of a broader effort to build data and AI talent in Singapore’s healthcare sector through sustained training and upskilling.

Lastly, Synapxe inked an MOU with Google Cloud to leverage the latter's interoperable, industry-leading data and AI platform services, such as BigQuery, Vertex AI, and Agent2Agent Protocol, for the purposes of enhancing HEALIX, and Tandem, which is Synapxe's innovative and secure Generative AI (GenAI) platform. This collaboration also includes a comprehensive AI capacity-building initiative to train and certify more than 300 healthcare technology professionals, including data engineers, data scientists, and data analysts across public healthcare institutions. This partnership will strengthen Singapore's healthcare technology capabilities through knowledge exchange, thought leadership initiatives, and the joint development of cutting-edge GenAI applications in healthcare delivery.

AI-Enabled Predictive and Preventive Care

Beyond establishing new partnerships, Synapxe is actively working with its existing healthcare and technology partners to explore a range of AI-enabled technologies aimed at enhancing predictive and preventive care in Singapore.

With the rapid advancements in computer vision to interpret images and videos with human-like understanding, Synapxe is developing innovative tools to address key health challenges in Singapore. One such innovation is Synseh, an exploratory proof-of-concept (POC) by Synapxe that explores the intersection of Traditional Chinese Medicine and modern technology. Using computer vision and AI algorithms, this experimental project studies tongue analysis patterns to explore potential insights into individual wellness patterns.

Additionally, to tackle Singapore’s growing challenge of sarcopenia, the age-related progressive loss of muscle mass and strength, the AI-enabled Short Performance Physical Battery Evaluation (ASPIRE) was developed in partnership with the National Healthcare Group (NHG) through its Tan Tock Seng Hospital and NHG Polyclinics. Currently in POC, this tool will empower clinicians from NHG to screen for the condition effectively across community and healthcare environments, promoting early identification and proactive intervention for healthier ageing.

Improving Patient Care and Experience

Synapxe will launch an AI-enabled conversational assistant that will be integrated into HealthHub website later this year, to enhance how residents view evidence-based health and wellness information. Known as HealthHub AI, this feature will offer multilingual health information through both text and voice interactions, with personalised profiles to deliver tailored recommendations to the public. A beta version has been launched to the public in April 2025 for feedback. Initial feedback on the beta version has been promising, registering more than 1,800 unique sessions and an average user rating of 4.5 out of 5.

To improve imaging diagnostics enhanced by AI, Synapxe has deployed two new use cases on AimSG, the nation’s first AI Medical Imaging Platform for public healthcare. In June, a chest X-ray AI model for tuberculosis (TB) screening will be deployed at the NHG through its National Tuberculosis Screening Centre which is part of the National Centre for Infectious Diseases to enhance the accuracy and speed of TB diagnosis. Synapxe has also collaborated with the NHG through its Woodlands Health to deploy a bone trauma interpretation AI model in the emergency department, to detect fracture detection, ensuring timely treatment, and reducing the risk of complications.

As we advance these innovative AI solutions, Synapxe maintains its commitment to patient safety and responsible AI. Synapxe’s AI solutions will be developed in close collaboration with our tech and healthcare partners and undergo rigorous validation before deployment.

Fostering Capabilities to Harness AI Technology

In addition to its focus on collaborations, Synapxe has been cultivating a culture of learning and innovation for public healthcare professionals, empowering them with the knowledge and skillsets to harness AI to enhance and improve their daily workflows.

One example is through the GenAIus Challenge launched in April 2024, which aimed to cultivate an innovative mindset among public healthcare professionals and equip them with the knowledge and experience to harness GenAI. It connects technology partners like AWS, Microsoft, Avanade, and Google Cloud with more than 160 public healthcare professionals to explore GenAI solutions for close to 70 use cases.  At AI Accelerate, eight minimum viable products (MVPs) were showcased from the final submissions. One MVP is CareScribe, a collaboration between the Alexandra Hospital and Avanade to enhance nursing handover. Unlike other speech-to-text technologies, CareScribe is a multi-modal GenAI solution which processes voice, images, and handwritten notes, transforming them into accurate documentation. Additionally, its capabilities for recognising medical terminology, ensures accuracy in specialised contexts. This innovation reduces manual documentation time for nurses and improves patient information accuracy, enabling more focus on direct patient care.  If selected for further development, the MVPs will undergo more rigorous testing and iterations before phased deployment in real world settings.

Another initiative is the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Large Language Model (LLM) League 2025, open to all professionals regardless of their technical background or prior experience with GenAI. Over five weeks, participants gain hands-on experience in training and fine-tuning their own LLMs, promoting innovation and responsible AI usage while addressing real-world challenges through comprehensive and accurate model responses. In partnership with AWS, the competition combines a structured and gamified learning approach, culminating in the top four teams showcasing their models at the AI Accelerate Conference for live voting by the audiences.

The AI Accelerate Conference 2025 took place at Punggol Digital District (PDD), Singapore’s first smart and sustainable district, a location designed to drive tech innovation and partnerships in Singapore, making it the ideal location for Synapxe’s inaugural event.
