Synapxe also signs four collaborations with leading tech players in its inaugural AI event to build an AI-enabled healthcare ecosystem
Singapore’s national HealthTech agency Synapxe hosted its inaugural Artificial Intelligence (AI) conference, AI Accelerate today, which saw over 400 leaders in technology, healthcare, academia, government and AI innovators gather in a one-day conference, attended by guest-of-honour Mr Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Health.
Through the AI Accelerate conference, Synapxe brought public healthcare and tech communities together to boost AI talent and capabilities, and accelerate digital transformation for public healthcare. Key highlights include the unveiling of new ground-up innovations and collaborations, as well as expanding uses of AI on our national healthcare IT platforms. Through these efforts, Synapxe aims to pave the way for an AI-enabled and enhanced public healthcare ecosystem in Singapore.
Ms Ngiam Siew Ying, CEO of Synapxe, said: “AI holds immense promise for transforming healthcare through innovation. By harnessing its capabilities, we are developing solutions that enhance predictive and personalised care and improve health outcomes for everyone.
At Synapxe, we build a bridge to an AI-ready healthcare, anchored on empowering people, fostering a vibrant ecosystem, establishing infrastructure and enabling responsible innovation. Together with our partners, we transform data into vision, ensuring that the human experience remains at the heart of healthcare."
Establishing New Collaborations to Drive Impactful Healthcare Outcomes
At the event, Synapxe signed a collaboration agreement with OpenAI, the research and deployment company of ChatGPT. Together, Synapxe will explore how OpenAI’s multi- agentic framework can make every day healthcare tasks easier and more efficient for people in Singapore. Leveraging OpenAI’s Agents SDK, a prototype has been developed to facilitate transactional services such as booking appointments and answering general healthcare questions. All chat interactions through this prototype remain private and are excluded from model training by default. If successful, the prototype could be extended to other use cases and considered for potential scaling within Singapore’s healthcare ecosystem.
An MOU was signed to form an alliance between Synapxe and AIDX TECH to assist with identifying AI risks in healthcare and ensuring AI safety and reliability. Synapxe will leverage AIDX’s platform for the testing of AI models to drive responsible and compliant AI, while focusing on AI safety through joint innovation labs, best practice frameworks, and specialised training programs. The collaboration will assist healthcare sectors to adopt safer and compliant AI aligned with both local and global frameworks and guidelines, ensuring patient safety and enhancing public trust in the use of AI in healthcare.
To strengthen the capabilities of national cloud-based analytics platform, Health Empowerment through Advanced Learning & Intelligent eXchange (HEALIX), Synapxe signed an MOU with Databricks, a leading global data, analytics, and AI company. Currently leveraging the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform to support analytical insights and enhanced security and data democratisation, this partnership will further promote the adoption of AI and skills transformations within public healthcare institutions in Singapore. Key initiatives include fostering experimentation and adoption of AI use cases through a Data and AI Factory, co-developing predictive care use cases and integrating Databricks' AI capabilities into HEALIX’s platform. Additionally, Databricks will support the training and certification of public healthcare professionals through the HEALIX Data and AI Academy over the next three years, enabling them to obtain Databricks certifications. This initiative is part of a broader effort to build data and AI talent in Singapore’s healthcare sector through sustained training and upskilling.
Lastly, Synapxe inked an MOU with Google Cloud to leverage the latter's interoperable, industry-leading data and AI platform services, such as BigQuery, Vertex AI, and Agent2Agent Protocol, for the purposes of enhancing HEALIX, and Tandem, which is Synapxe's innovative and secure Generative AI (GenAI) platform. This collaboration also includes a comprehensive AI capacity-building initiative to train and certify more than 300 healthcare technology professionals, including data engineers, data scientists, and data analysts across public healthcare institutions. This partnership will strengthen Singapore's healthcare technology capabilities through knowledge exchange, thought leadership initiatives, and the joint development of cutting-edge GenAI applications in healthcare delivery.
