Women using the Facial Recognition Attendance system

SingHealth Community Hospital (SCH) has taken healthcare administration to the next level with the introduction of a revolutionary facial recognition attendance system. Many institutions have already implemented Workforce Optimisation (WFO) in one way or another, but SCH is the first site which records staff attendance through facial recognition instead of using traditional means like fingerprint and staff pass. This addition to the industry is poised to streamline administrative tasks and empower healthcare professionals, ultimately enhancing patient care.

The inspiration for the development of the facial recognition system is to provide operational solutions to manual staff scheduling, attendance tracking, and simplify allowance claims processes which were laborious and time consuming. SCH’s pioneering move aims to automate these processes, which leads to significant improvements in workplace productivity. By reducing administrative burdens, staff can redirect their efforts towards delivering superior patient care.

Synapxe’s Ngo Lay Harn and her team worked tirelessly to implement this system, in which its technology is an offshoot of its foundational facial recognition visitor management software launched in 2022. WFO does not only include a facial recognition reader, it is also integrated with fingerprint and/or card reader, which are used by most public healthcare institutions.

“The new Facial Recognition Attendance system has transformed the way we clock-in our attendance. There are no more manual logs required as all we needed to do is to scan our face through the digital device, even with our masks on! This tech innovation has made the processes easier and much more convenient."

SGH Hospital Decontamination Station (HDS) team is exploring to implement the facial recognition device for the tracking of their crew members during Civil Emergency. This software indeed has a broad scope of implementation opportunity in the future, both within and outside the healthcare sector. Imagine F&B establishments and hotels with large staffing crew – the Facial Recognition Attendance System does not only ease the burden of staff planning, but also provides an avenue for staff data-mining.
